Donald Trump hasn’t even finished one whole term as President and already he’s set several world records from the most expensive presidential inauguration to the most provocative politician on social media. Now another record involving the Commander in Chief could become reality, pending the official tally of a massive Florida boat parade held on Saturday in his honor. How did it go? Let’s find out.
In what could be called an all-hands-on-deck effort to keep Trump’s re-election hopes afloat, a massive armada of supporters took to the Pinellas Intracoastal Waterway near Clearwater to not only support their favorite president but also set a world record for the world’s largest boat parade. Those not likely to get on board included one family that was swamped by the passing flotilla, as their boat eerily broke apart and sank to the bottom.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Republican pack banded together to get a nod in the Guinness Book of World Records. To do that requires surpassing the 1,180 watercraft tally that took part in Malaysia’s boat parade Sept. 13, 2014, in the South China Sea in conjunction with a national holiday celebration.

A Guinness title would be nice, but the event also doubled as a way to register more voters and generate excitement among Republicans for the current electoral campaign, according to event organizers who also run a coffee shop called Conservative Grounds. They claimed they had at least 1,600 entries registered for the event and were confident the Florida event broke a record that’s stood for six years.
Vessels of all shapes and sizes with outboards of varying degrees of horsepower showed up en masse to put a new Guinness World Record in the bag. And as ugly as partisan politics can get at times, fortunately, none of the entries included a floating fortress warship to sink any craft that might have been opposed to the endeavor.
Florida Boat Parade
As for whether Florida overtakes the Malaysian record, unfortunately, supporters will have to wait anywhere between 12 to 15 weeks for the final results from Guinness adjudicators who will review video taken from the event as well as other documents. Ironically, the winner may not be determined until long after that other contest, namely the federal election Nov. 3. Evidently, determining a Guinness title is far more painstaking than tabulating those ever-so-contentious U.S. electoral ballots.
