Luxury cars are desirable, trend-setting, and shiny. They are wishlist items, dreams of a lifetime. But there is a catch: most luxury cars depreciate over time. But the moment the buyer exits the dealership, the car starts losing value.

The first five years is when the real depreciation happens, and after that mark, it is downhill. Buyers of second-hand cars look for vehicles that are well-maintained and that are not outdated. The website iSeeCars ran a car value survey about the least and most depreciating cars, and here are ten of the losers.
10 The Maserati Quattroporte

Fresh out of a dealership, this Maserati costs $ 116,000. On the website Auto Trader, buyers can find a 2017 model on sale for $ 54,000. In three years, the Quattroporte lost 46 percent of its value -at best. In five years, it loses 72.2 percent.

One of the main reasons is that the car parts are difficult to find and they are expensive, since only specialty type shops deal with foreign cars. Maseratis aren’t budget cars or daily cars: they are made to show off. Every expert suggests buying a new one, to avoid the hustle of a used vehicle.

Most BMWs depreciate fast. Just like the Maserati, these vehicles require expensive maintenance and upkeep, so much so that specialist forums suggest owners should keep every receipt and repair record. The retail price of a new Series 7 is $ 114,000 while a used one was sold for $ 67,000 with almost 5ooo miles.

The depreciation value is 58 percent. Why? Maintenance, once again. Motor Biscuit goes as far as suggesting to buy it used right away: buyers will save money while facing the usual BMW troubles.
8 The Jaguar XJ

The starting price of this luxury car is $102,000. A used 2018 Jaguar XJ-Series XJ can cost only $55,995 with 6000 miles. U.S. News & World Report states it clearly: Jaguar XJ isn’t a very good used super luxury car. According to the same report, “The 2019 XJ’s five-year costs for gas, insurance, taxes, fees, repairs, and maintenance are projected to be about $39,100, or $7,820 per year.”

Most Jaguar models are limited edition, which means repair works are difficult. One buyer said on Quora: “Try finding oil for that motor anywhere, it’s almost impossible.”
7 The Acura RLX

The starting price of this model ranges between $54,900 to $61,900, making the Acura RLX one of the cheapest luxury cars in the market. Still, it is a luxury car
