The shooting brake is a dying breed. Recall when Ferrari brought to birth the FF. Many were shocked by the reveal of a strange-looking, starkly un-supercar shaped Ferrari. Old-school enthusiasts though have a real appreciation for a sports car with a proper bit of space and utility in the back though. Today, among such enthusiasts many of these cars from an era long ago forgotten are holding their value or even appreciating in value.
Take for example the BMW Z3 M Coupe. What at the time was called a clown shoe is now the single most desirable Z3 from the time period. One sold in late 2019 for over $93,000. On average, you can’t get a good one that’s been well maintained for less than $30,000. That says a lot about the value they have in the market. Some companies have made limited production runs but today we dream about what would be if their popularity made a gigantic comeback.

The GT-R is already considered a supercar killer. In part, it’s a supercar of its own so that’s to be expected, but they’re notorious for being wildly reliable, unfathomably quick, and capable of being daily driven.

Adding a shooting brake version would make it that much more useful each day. Win-Win.

The Mustang is a car that we’re seeing transform before our eyes. It’s properly fast, sounds amazing, looks incredible and now we have the Mach-E. A shooting brake variant would fit nicely in the lineup as a go-between.

It could offer both powertrains and really bridge the gap in a meaningful way. I think normal Mustang owners would appreciate the extra utility too.

Everything about this looks like a 911 to me, but they’re calling it a Boxster, so we’re going with it fam. It’s a great take on an already wonderful car.

It’s properly fast and functional and would add one more reason to buy a Boxster over a 911. Rarity is highly valued in the Porsche world.
7 Dodge Challenger
Where I live, the V6 Challenger is the everyman car. It’s everywhere. You cannot own one without being like 60% of the other people on the road. Offering a shooting brake would separate the real car people from everyone else who just wants to look fast.

This one is slightly aged and features an aftermarket wide-body kit that looks outstanding.

If you had to mimic the old-school Z3 M Coupe I don’t think you could do better than this. Some have released renders of the new Z4 in similar guise, but they don’t look nearly this good.
