The eBussy Modular EV Transforms Into 10 Different Vehicles

German electric scooter maker Electric Brands has just unveiled its first car, the eBussy, a modular electric vehicle that can take various forms, including that of a bus, van, camper, dump truck, or even a pick-up truck. According to the company, the design is based on the ‘’Lego Principle’’, which uses a series of chassis attachments to allow for 10 different configurations. Electric Brands is set to unveil the eBussy in 2021 at half the price of the cheapest Tesla.

The eBussy is quite tiny at just over 12 feet long, 5.4 feet wide and 6.2 feet tall. It has an empty weight between 992 to 1.323 pounds but can support over double its weight (2,204.6 pounds). The vehicle is powered by eight removable lithium ion battery packs that provide 10 kwh (124 miles of range), but can be upgraded to 24 packs, which provides 30 kWh (373 miles). It also features solar panels for re-charging on the go. The eBussy features a top speed of 56 mph and 738 foot-pounds of torque.

When configuring the eBussy, you start by choosing one of 2 kinds of chassis, the standard or the off-road (AWD). After that, you can choose between 10 body styles depending on your needs, combining different types of cabins (stand-alone or bench seating, single cab or crew cab, etc), optional trunks and if you like campers, the eBussy can also feature accommodations that features things like a refrigerator, seating area that can convert into a bed, television, freshwater tank, sink, etc. One of the odd features the eBussy has is that the steering wheel can shift locations across the dashboard, from left to right, thanks to its ‘drive by wire’ system.

The eBussy will have a starting price of $18,273, but depending on the modules you add, prices can go up to $33,309 (the off-road camper is the most expensive configuration). The bad news is, there is no plan to bring this vehicle to the U.S. while in Europe, Electric Brands is set to start selling this vehicle in 2021.
