Trucks may be underrated by drivers for a lot of reasons. A lot of drivers aren’t familiar with certain trucks because they are older designs. Drivers in 2020 may be aware of the newest trucks but unless they are a true gearhead, they probably don’t look too far back into history.

However, a true gearhead should look into history and see how the trucks that they like have changed. Popular trucks today didn’t always start out popular and weren’t always even available to civilians.

A lot of trucks were developed during World War II and changed to become civilian vehicles. Drivers interested in learning about classic but underrated trucks need to look no further than this article.

The Dodge Custom Sport Special was sold as a sort of hybrid truck and race car. With its racing stripes, Dodge hoped to appeal to drivers who wanted a muscle car but needed a pickup truck for their jobs. This truck didn’t just have racing stripes though.

With its hi-po 360ci V8 engine and dual-snorkel intakes, the Express can go from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. Due to this performance, the Express has often been described a muscle truck. However, for drivers interested in buying one, they will likely have trouble since it is a rare truck.
