The Chevy Tahoe has been the best selling SUV in America for many years now, and as competition with the all-new Ford Expedition was starting to heat up, the Tahoe/Suburban received a needed new generation earlier this year. Due to the pandemic, the Tahoe was delayed a few months, and only now are hitting the dealerships. Doug Demuro got the chance to review one and, as usual, take an in-depth look at all its quirks and features. He found the Tahoe to be surprisingly luxurious compared to the outgoing model and catalogs it as the new Gold Standard of full-size SUVs.
The model tested is the top trim High Country edition, which offers more tech and better quality materials. According to Doug, the interior is a huge improvement over the outgoing model. It features lots of leather and high-quality materials combined with big screens and all you should expect in a vehicle at that price point.
As usual, Doug takes the Tahoe for a ride and then proceeds to give it a Doug Score. The Tahoe received 51 out of 100, beating most big-family SUVs, placing it only under the BMW X7, the Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes GLS450.

Doug found some cool and practical features on the Tahoe, for example, the rearview mirror turns into a camera for better visibility. A little dial in the ceiling allows you to adjust how far the automatic tailgate opens to avoid hitting a low roof. Instead of having a big gear shifter, you control the 10-speed transmission with buttons placed on the dashboard, allowing for a cleaner look and a more spacious cabin. And of course, it has a ton of other features like wireless charging, 360 degree parking cameras, and high-resolution screens.
The back seat is where the Tahoe really stands out. It features two very versatile and easy-to-move captain chairs with USB-C connectors, household-style power outlets, individual climate controls with heated seats, and of course, a lot of room. The third row is also pretty roomy, with two USB-C plugs, cupholders, and climate vents.

The Tahoe has a starting price of $53,800, and it comes standard with a 5.3L V8 engine in the LT, Z71, and Premier Trims. While the High Country comes with a 6.2L V8 engine and a starting price of $70,895 (2WD) and 73,895 (4WD). If you load it up with the Premium Package ($4,605) and the Technology Package ($3,355), the Tahoe can easily reach the $80,000 mark.
