Like it or not, electric cars are here to stay. After Tesla’s meteoric rise in the past years, most traditional automakers have decided it was time to start investing in electric technology. This is why last year, Ford came out with an all-electric Ford Mustang-inspired Crossover, the Mustang Mach-E. But what if Ford decided to make a Mustang-inspired electric truck? YouTuber SRK Design took a picture of the Mach-E and turned into a truck, and the result is pretty interesting. Let’s take a look at this wild Mustang Truck render.
The design starts with a side picture of the Mustang Mach-E, SRK lifted the suspension of the Mach-E to give it a more rugged appearance and more ground clearance, after a quick sketch, he removes the C pillar and slices off the hatchback to create space for a cargo bed. The result is a pretty good looking mid-size pick-up truck. In some ways, the side profile reminds us of the Mitsubishi Triton. That being said, the concept and the execution of SRK Design is excellent.

The chances of Ford making a truck like this are almost nonexistent, at least for now. Ford is already working on a fully electric F-150 and working on a unibody, compact, mid-size truck based on the new Bronco Sport. The rumors indicate that this truck will be called the Maverick and will be placed under the Ford Ranger to compete directly with the upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz, and in some other markets, with the RAM 1000/Fiat Toro.

Ford is re-organizing its models into sub-brands. For example, the marketing for the new Bronco emphasizes its off-road capabilities by offering 4WD as standard on all models as well as giving it its own logo and the new ‘Built Wild’ tagline. With Mustangs, the tagline is ‘The Future of Exhilaration,’ and the idea is to emphasize the Mustang’s high-performance and innovation, while Ford will focus on its trucks and their toughness, with the ‘Built Tough’ tagline. Considering this, it wouldn’t make much sense for Ford to offer a Mustang sub-brand truck.
