The New Ford Bronco is by far the most discussed vehicle of the last few months, and while we wait for more information about the new model, Jay Leno posted a new episode of JLG where he takes an in-depth look at his beautiful 1968 Bronco. This vehicle was gifted to Jay by fellow late-night comedian Craig Ferguson in 2014.

In 2019, Jay decided to reach out to Ford Performance and SEMA Garage to restore and upgrade this classic SUV. After a few months of work, the results of this restoration were so good it was displayed at the 2019 SEMA show. Even though this SUV looks pretty stock, don’t let that fool you. This is not an ordinary restoration. Under the hood of this Bronco is Ford’s 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine borrowed from the 760hp 2020 Shelby GT500.

Ford’s main idea behind the Bronco was versatility, you could use this SUV for everything, from working on the farm to taking your date to the prom. For Jay, to maintain that essence was vital. This is why this vehicle was upgraded with modern features while still maintaining the original Bronco’s aesthetic and capabilities.

In the exterior, Dennis Carpenter restored the body panels, trim, and accessories, and LGE-CTS Motorsport painted the Bronco with the custom ”tonight blue” paint. The wheels are 18-inch pieces from Detroit Steel Wheels, wrapped in Rugged Trail T/A 275/65-18 tires from BFGoodrich. In the interior of this SUV, a new Sony audio system was installed, while eagle Ottawa genuine leather by Rogelio upholstery wraps the classic interior enhanced by the Dakota Digital gauges.

An incredible team of outfitters and tuners incorporated many custom pieces into restoring Leno’s 1968 Ford Bronco. The engine was swapped in favor of the Ford’s 5.2 L supercharged V8 borrowed from the 2020 Shelby GT500, combined with a TR-4050 5-speed Silver Sport transmission by TREMEC, with Quickdraw bellhousing and STX shifter assembly. A Heavy-duty 4WD drivetrain with Advance Adapters Atlas II transfer case was installed to improve the Bronco’s off-road capabilities and handling. All mounted on a new Adventure Series coil-over Kincer Chassis.
